How to choose a reusable straw?

How to choose a reusable straw?

At this point, we all know plastic straws are out and reusable straws are in. It is estimated that 500,000,000 straws are used per day in the USA. Plastic straws are one of the easiest things to replace when you’re trying to reduce your plastic. Nevertheless, you would think getting a reusable straw would be simple, but it is not. There are too many options and it is starting to get confusing.
Your choices are steel, glass, silicone or bamboo. Silicone ones are uncomfortable to use and we don’t recommend them. All of them work the same, they are all eco-friendlier and healthier options than plastic straws and they are all popular for different reasons.

Here are the facts:

Steel

Steel straws are the most popular option. They are dishwasher safe, durable, travel- friendly and won’t break. They are non-toxic, stain-free, rust proof, scratch proof and 100% recyclable. They usually come with a cleaning brush to clean them after use.

Bamboo

Bamboo straws are probably one of the best eco-friendly alternatives to plastic straws. They are 100% natural and organic, completely biodegradable and don’t pollute the environment. Made from plants – originate in nature and end up in nature. Bamboo straws are not dishwasher safe and should be cleaned only using a cleaning brush. They shouldn't be used for hot liquids and can have a wooden taste, but good quality ones are smooth and taste fine. Keep in mind their life-span is limited - they won't last forever.

Glass

Glass straws are a controversial option. You either love it or hate it. They are easily breakable, but can be used for both hot and cold drinks and are dishwasher safe.
